Good to see he taking a page from the Bush "How to make really stupid statements to the press while trying to screw the country" playbook.

You can't even live on the current minimum wage, which you would earn $14,000 per year before taxes with one minimum wage 40 hour a week job:
now rent a room in an apartment about $500 a month (total $6000 for the year)
eat at about $50 per week (total $2600)
gas/electric $100 ($1200)
T pass (we will say a subway @$44 per month) (total $528)
Basic verizon home phone $35 per month (total $420)
Total: $10, 748 for basic expenses...

Now deduct taxes, health insurance cost, increase in heating bills in the winter, etc..

That someone living without all the extras- like cell phone, internet, co-pays for health insurance, emergencies etc...

For an $8.00 minimum wage 40 hour a week job you would earn 16,600 before taxes & health care costs

unless you have 3-4 jobs Mittens you can't make it in Massachusetts

Note to Contrada and Article 8 in regards to their open letter to Mass State Reps:

Dear article 8/mass resistance/parents rights/interfaith coalition,

I find it interesting that in your mass resistance blog you claim that BAGLY, a glbt youth organization, has a link on their resource page to information about sex reassignment surgery when in fact they do not, which you prove yourself by linking to the BAGLY resource page which does not have such a link and then putting up a link on your blog to the said page in question. Anyone with an internet connection can figure out the type of bait and switch tactic your using.

This is reminiscent of Camenker "fistgate" audio tape where he sliced in portions of an adult safe sex talk to make the tape more lurid than it actually was. So I guess I am waiting for you to make a fake BAGLY web page to send people to.

I believe that you have an unhealthy fascination with transgender medical procedures and GLBT people in general and might want to consider seeking some mental health counseling.

This past weekend, trying to take a breather from all the action at the statehouse on Weds (waiting for an outcome from the MA Constitutional Convention which did not take up the ballot question but will be reconvening on Nov 9th) I went to the beach on the South Shore, Nantasket. At about 3pm - two planes with vote on marriage banners buzzed the beach. One said something like 'DiMassi and TRAVAGLINI should let the people vote' and the second said go to voteonmarriage.org. I was completely annoyed, but the folks around me did not understand what either of the banners meant, people just looked puzzled.

So much for that tactic boys...

Good Morning Statehouse!

I went down to the statehouse before work this morning at 8am to stand outside in the line with MassEquality across the street from the Vote On/Mass Family Institute. Vote On/Mass Family Institute failed to get a permit to be in front of ther statehouse, but MassEquality did get a permit, Vote On/Mass Family Institute had to be across the street without blocking the sidewalk. No Camenker or Contrada in sight... but the Vote On/Mass Family Institute did bring out about 15 kids under 14 to hold signs for them as well as about 20 adults. It was just getting going when I had to leave. Did have one woman come up and admonish my friend for not holding an american flag (we had small pride flags) she said we would "get better results if we were more patriotic".

I am not quite feeling so patriotic as I look over Governor Romney's vetos of everything in the budget that was for GLBT or the fact that if I go to any other state my family is not recognized, which basically means I can't move out of Massachusetts if I still want to be considered to be married.

The use of GLBT issues to sensationalize a story is nothing new, but to make something up to stir up the fire is just plain wrong. There was a big to do over a FEMA funds supposedly being used to pay for a "sex-change". When I heard this I highly doubted it could have happened. The FEMA funds were doled out in the sum of $2000, it cost approx. $20,000 for genital reconstruction surgery and a 6 month to year to get a surgery date, not to mention all the paperwork and letter of recommendation someone needs from a therapist. My friends over at the National Transgender Advocacy Coalition did some investigating when they heard this coming over the wire and this was what they uncovered:

Transgenders Claim FEMA Sex Change Scandal Was Fabricated, Fraudulent

Last month, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) testified before a House Homeland Security subcommittee to spotlight $1.4 billion fraudulent waste of Emergency Assistance Funds (EAF) to Hurricane Katrina victims. The
unprecedented level of Federal Emergency Management Agency fraud was blared over television newscasts and emblazoned on newspaper headlines: "FEMA funds paid for
a sex change."

However, the National Transgender Advocacy Coalition (NTAC) is now publicly calling the media and authorities on this claim, demanding proof that this occurred and calling the press on this claim "fabricated" and "fraudulent." In
reviewing both House subcommittee testimony and the GAO report (_www.gao.gov/new.items/d06844t.pdf_ (http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d06844t.pdf) ) that
uncovered the fraud there was no reference of a sex change, nor any surgery of any type being paid for by FEMA funds.

"It appears [the sex change] story was prime red meat for conservatives looking to turn attention away from the President, and onto Katrina victims and FEMA," said NTAC President Vanessa Edwards Foster. "It also appears there's no veracity to the story that EAF funds were used for gender reassignment surgery. These press claims are what's fraudulent."

House Homeland Security Investigations subcommittee chair Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) called the discovered waste "criminal" but never mentioned anything
about sex changes. However Rep. Charles Dent (R-PA) did note the sex change claim shortly after the House testimony, commenting, "I don't understand how
this could happen."

How the sex change allegation originated remains unclear. The June 14, 2006 story by Larry Margasak of the Associated Press noted a sex change in a laundry list of items scammed from FEMA. While outlets as diverse as Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, ABC News, MSNBC, Bloomberg Report carried the story,the more conservative news outlets such as Wall Street Journal or Fox News made no mention of the sex change accusation.

When questioned about the story, the GAO's Office of Public Affairs stated "there was no reference to that allegation … because we cannot confirm it."

"The press reported on fabricated claims of sex changes paid with FEMA funds, but no media ever mentioned $2,000 paid to a Christian Broadcast Network from EAF payments," Foster of NTAC commented. The GAO report listed $2,000 paid to Colorado-based LeSEA Broadcasting Network.

After anguishing over the initial FEMA news reports, NTAC Vice President Courtney Sharp said she "was shocked to discover that the [GAO] report didn't mention anything about anyone misusing funds to have gender reassignment surgery."

A New Orleans resident who lost nearly everything during Katrina, Sharp said she listened as co-workers and friends disparaged the person who used FEMA funds to obtain a sex change. "[It] was extremely hurtful to realize that someone had embellished the GAO report and was probably using the negative stereotypes about transgender people [for] media attention."

Sharp said she now feels the public was "bamboozled" by the news report.

"There's an inherent media bias in this story," NTAC's Foster continued. "If you have transsexuals having sex changes it's great press - even if it is uncorroborated! But a confirmed report of emergency victims' funds paid to a faith-based broadcaster is deemed not press-worthy." While acknowledging many Americans have no problem with faith-based groups receiving money, she noted that they would likely not be keen on funds intended for needy victims in an emergency being given instead to a broadcast group to spread the gospel.

"I smell a rat behind the fabrication of this news report. It's very Karl Rove," Foster commented. "It uses an unwitting transgender community to bludgeon Hurricane Katrina victims." She called the uncorroborated claim in the
press "despicable."

"Ten months after Hurricane Katrina, residents of the Gulf Coast continue to struggle to rebuild their lives," NTAC's Sharp observed. "The impact has been truly unimaginable. Like the majority of residents, transgender people are
responsible, productive, law abiding members of the community and they are also playing important roles in rebuilding the devastated areas.

"The media attack on the transgender community," Sharp finished, "served as my fifth personal "tidal surge" post-Katrina."

Whether originating from Congress, the press or an administration press operative, NTAC urges the responsible party to own up to, and publicly apologize for unfairly portraying the transgender community, and for deceiving the American public.

How many time can Article 8 recycle the same list of "offenders" at youth pride.... youth pride was almost 2 months ago...

Okay now lets look at the MA budget - and that article 8 thinks 2 million is going to gay/lesbian youth

First the suicide prevention for gay/lesbian youth is in a line with about 15 other things include statewide spanish sexual assault hotlines, youth violence prevention programs etc..and basically is saying that Dept of Public Health will oversee the how the money and it does not designate how much is allocated in this line but does in 7010-0005

Here is the supposed "super commission" on gay/lesbian youth .... which is referred to in line 4590-0250.
7010-0005 For the operation of the department of education; provided, that the department, in collaboration with the commission on gay and lesbian youth established by section 67 of chapter 3 of the General Laws commission on gay and lesbian youth established by section 67 of chapter 3 of the General Laws, shall allocate not less than $150,000 for programming to ensure public schools’ compliance with the board of education’s recommendations for the support and safety of gay and lesbian students and the implementation of related suicide-prevention and violence-prevention efforts;

The line item that is suppose to give "$300, 000 to gay/lesbian youth programs" is actually
4513-9083 "For the purposed of a federally funded grant entitled, Massachusetts Youth Suicide Prevention Program $299,841"
This funds the youth suicide prevention programs across the state such at the Samaritians Youth peer sucide hotline- it is federal funds it is not desginated for gay/lesbian youth.

My prediction: it will be level funded at $75,000 which is what is was in the last budget.

So the total in the budget is $150, 000 designated for gay/lesbian youth suicide prevention not 2 million as the the fuzzy math of article 8 claims.

How that compares with other youth initiatives:
Also from line 7010-0005 - "provided further, that $250,000 shall be expended for the implementation of a pilot program known as PeaceZone in elementary schools at the Boston Public Schools"
4512-0200 - "provided further, that not less than $100,000 shall be expended on the Russian Teens-at-Risk program operated by the Jewish Family Children's Service in the cities of Boston and Lynn and the town of Brookline"
4513-1000 - "provided further, that not less than $200,000 shall be expended for ROCA, Inc., for outreach and youth development for at-risk youth and young adults in Chelsea, Revere, and East Boston; provided further, that $150,000 shall be expended on the Governor’s Committee on Physical Fitness and Sports;"

As you can see this is in line if not less than some of these other teen programs- as the above teen programs cover a few towns and the gay/lesbian youth suicide amount is for statewide.

"But as Massachusetts lawmakers prepare to consider an amendment to the state constitution banning gay marriage later this month, Camenker remains unapologetic, saying he represents the state’s true silent majority.

He even opposes the amendment, saying there’s nothing wrong with the constitution, what’s wrong is it’s interpretation by the state’s highest court.

“We are sort of purists on this. We don’t believe that the constitution needs to be amended because the constitution is not flawed,” he said. “John Adams didn’t make a mistake and forget to put gay marriage in the constitution.”

So basically Camenker doesn't want a constitutional amendment... maybe this why Article 8... fell out of favor with the Mass Family Institute/Vote on Marriage gang...

I was thinking, if Mass Family Institute has the bible to fall back on to condemn gay marriage, what does the Article 8 use has it's argument... all I ever see on their website is the word disgusting... so what is their argument against LGBT folks?

Rumor has it Camenker use to frequent some of the trans bars back a few years ago... he would be what we call a "tranny chaser" and I am not using that kindly... him and Contrada spend an awful lot of time reading up on trans folks and publishing pictures of them...

Congrats to the Religious Freedom to Marry Coalition for their open letter to Cardinal O'Malley and the Catholic church. It is not the place of one religion to dictate over another. If the Catholic church does not want to marry same-sex couples then so be it, but do not dictate your religious views on to other religions or secular laws.

In general I would like to see a wider gap in the seperation of church and state. I would particularly like to see less faith-based funding for social service intiatives and more secular community-based funding working in coalition with religious leaders who are welcoming of all people. I find it ironic that there is 10 point coalition of religious leaders to work on youth violence who are also preaching INTOLERANCE of GLBT people. I don't believe you can decrease violence in one group while also using hate speech towards another. My feeling is if you cannot serve all people without bias and judgement, then get out of the business of social services.

Don't get me started on the abstinance only funded education - what is this? A freaking time capsule back to the 1950's? Considering we have a society that markets almost everything with sex and/or violence - It's "Do as I say - not as I do" approach. If we, as a society, actually spent some time teaching healthy interpersonal relationship skills and how oppression affects all people we may actually be on the path to intervention of violence.

That fiesty MassNews and Mass Citizens for Marriage couple - J.Edward Pawlick, founder of MassNews as well as Lawyers Weekly, which he sold to his daughter in 2004 and according to a Globe article, his daughter is distancing herself and Lawyers Weekly from her Dad's views - how far does an apple fall from a tree?

"Pawlick, now in his 70s, spent more than $200,000 in the past two years to finance Massachusetts Citizens for Marriage, which his wife, Sally, heads. The group sued the Times Co. for libel (thus the name of the book), and lost. Three articles were from the Globe and one from the Times. He has financed a campaign to get a constitutional amendment on the ballot blocking gay marriage. And he covered the airwaves with radio ads."

Massachusetts Independent Political Action Committee for Working Families of which Pawlick and his wife donated money to back in 1999. They are still around with address in Walpole MA, couldn't find much more on them, seems that don't advertise too much.

MassNews should go to journalism school.

If you ever had the time to look at this gem of a "newssource" it will give a good laugh, if you can get past the generally bad writing skills. MassNews biggest stories for a long time where "fistgate", which they kept going for a couple of years, then angry feminists taking over the courts, and currently, Tony Snow, Bush's Press Secretary. Which they seem to have a particular hatred for, but I can't quite figure out why, even after reading much of the stories about him on their site. I have my own reason for not liking him, such as being an ex-Fox Network crony and working for Bush, but why does right wing MassNews spend pages upon pages on him?

Back to their hatred of LGBT folks and their re-writing of Article 8 "stories"

"More on First Grade Boy Who Was Surrounded and Beaten at Lexington’s Estabrook Elementary School Earlier this Month after “Butch Lesbians” Were Encouraged by School to Create a Climate of Hate against Anyone Who Dared to Disagree with Lesbians"

That was the headline for an "article" on their website yesterday, it's 39 words long and the length of the actual article is 156 words, mostly recycling the headline. To top it all off, the run on sentence makes no sense.

From reading MassNews I gather they are against:
1) Lesbians
2) Feminists
3) Tony Snow

Maybe Tony Snow is really a lesbian feminist in a covert undercover operation at the Whitehouse and that is what they are trying to say...

Do you think Camenker and Contrada fit the criteria for Narcissistic - A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

(1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

Camenker and Contrada - Their view is that the rest of world should have the same "moral values" as theirs and if you don't agree they put up pictures of you and/or your kids on their website

(2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

There are 3 of them and they were able to "shut down" Macy's window... now they are looking to take over the world... lol
(3) believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

Motto of Camenker and Contrada "it's my way only because your way corrupting children"

(4) requires excessive admiration

Camenker loves to see himself in print, on the radio, television, and having mulitple websites with the same crappy content.

(5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

This just about sums up the lot of them...

(6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

Can we just look at all the press releases Camenker put out about the supposed 1st grader "mob" and number of officals that needed to get invloved in a playground fight.

(7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

The Macy's manniquin is a great example of this Camenker and Contrada didn't like what they wearing so the rest of us have to suffer the loss of the window

(8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

"My pictures, websites, press releases are bigger than yours... na na na!"

(9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Camenker in an interview "The Boston Globe was livid, and they published a story that was very unflattering about me. " He alone can make the whole Boston Globe mad at him...

I am also concerned with MR blogger Amy's mental health, her obssession with posting up pictures of children... this time a woman on the sidewalk with 2 kids with ACLU shirts...

Maybe it is because she is so sad cause her son, Anthony, is all the way in Ohio attending her Oberlin- which if you can believe it she graduated from in 1972.

Again, the radical right groups are backing someone who hasn't lived in this state for over 10 years, who just moved back here in 2003... and he worked as a graphic designer at Fox television (suprize suprize...)

Article 8 folks are getting lazy or bored at least on their website. They are basically copying and pasting text from the Boston Pride site, not even adding much of their own hateful text.

I listened to the wrko interview with Brian yesterday, it was infuriating and funny all at the same time. The host, John, kept declaring that "they had won" because Macy's took out the mannequins, the funny thing was that most of the call in folks to this right wing show said they didn't see what the big deal was with the mannequins and a few even said that same-sex marriage wasn't a big deal either. John and Brian sounded really quite foolish as they were they only ones declaring victory.

Brian said he wasn't attending Boston Pride because it is on a Saturday and that being orthodox jew it is against his religion.

Images of LGBT people will always offend the radical right so Macy's "striking a balance" excuse reeks of homophobia. Standing up for LGBT people is no balancing act. In the words of our illegitimate president George W. Bush, "you are either with us or against us."

The great Macy's debate

There is nothing like waking up to the phone ringing and being asked if you will debate Brian on some conservative radio station... I think that they are using the word debate quite loosley, cause let's see 2-3 anti-gay folks with microphones talking about the nipple size of mannequins and because the nipples appear to be larger they must be gay trans mannequins... news flash Brian your obession with transgender folks is spilling over... there is no such thing as transgender mannequins... smells like a set up... so no I won't be debating Brian on talk radio unless it is Air America.

I cannot believe that Macy's has so little a backbone, I mean most corporations don't cave in unless there is some national boycott and even then many won't do it. But have 2-3 of the same people call multiple times a day and now they are dictating the store displays, shoot, if I had know that I would have called and complained and told what kind of display I wanted. Macy's you look foolish pandering to a group that advocates hated... So can we expect that anytime there are 2 mannequins of the same gender in a window display Article 8 is going to call and asked for them to be removed, because Macy's but be subtly infering that they are gay.

Boycott Macy's not only for their removal of the two mannequins, but for their plain old stupidity...
who do they think shops there... let me tell you a little open secret Macy's... alot of gay men from the south end, which will become apparent when their sales decline.

Another reminder to Amy and Brian... it is still not okay to post pictures of kids up on your website, imagine someone posting a picture of your son or daughter up on their website with the word "digusting" underneath the picture... hurtful, if you can do that to other people's children I can only imagine what you do to your own.

"Save our children"

I am waiting for Anita Bryant to pop up from under Senator Frist's desk and jump on his lap and start singing "save our children" with all the hoopla about how marriage will do a "better job proecting children" when it is between one man and one woman... providing those kids aren't glbt of course. It's like their reasoning is that straight parents will raise only straight kids - my mom is pretty straight and I am pretty queer - so nope that's not it. I betcha boatload of GLBT folks came from straight parents and I betcha a boatload of straight kids come from GLBT parents.

Some suggestions for protecting the children:
1. Over haul the Department of Social Servicers here in Massachusetts, no case worker should have the number of kids and families they need to help - it is a factory line of social services.

2. Get off the MCAS bus and start teaching some actual skills and information in schools.

3. Create jobs for youth.

4. Abstinence only education is not based in reality - there are 26 million young people - under 15 in Africa who are HIV+ that can happen here.

5. Hold parents criminally accountable when they kick their kids out for coming out as LGBT. I have had too many late night calls from someone trying to find a space space for a GLBT youth.

6. Create a emergency shelter and transistional living program for youth between 17- 25. The adult homeless shelter is way to dangerous and the younger people get prayed on by the older adults.

7. End poverty, homlessness, violence, and discrimination.

In other words the these fine Christians should have a big say or the
only say in how my tax dollars are spent... ummm I think not...

I believe the "master plan" Dr. Miranda has would adopt policies that are hostile to anyone other than his own followers...

Now this guy has some strong views on other Christians sects - lets just say they are not too friendly. But in a May 2006 a press release for vote on marriage quotes Cardinal Sean O'Malley. These guys are drumming up friendships with Cardinal Sean O'Malley from the (look the other way clergy sex abuse scandal) Catholic Church... which on any other given day Dr. Miranda would not be cozing up to a Catholic.

You know what they say... First they come for the gays, then the Jews, then the Catholics... seems to me like vote on marriage/ Mass Family Institute are making fair weather friends... wonder if Brian has been invited back to the table- he probably should go back to the name Interfaith coalition to fit in with these folks...

VoteOnMarriage.org instigated and paid someone else to collected signatures for the Protection of Marriage, many which were fraudulent… having a one of my own family members names on there who did not sign it.

Vote on marriage has the same address as Massachusetts Family Institute but a different phone number, but the same fax number and probably share funds. Seems a little shady because clearly what vote one marriage folks are doing can't be done under a 501 c3.

David Parker and Brian Camenker - friends for life?

As some readers may know David Parker is the father in Lexington that was arrested after refusing to leave the school after a meeting with school officials about the Diversity Book Bag and in particular the book ''Who's In a Family?" by Robert Skutch, which included same-sex couples raising children, which he was complaining about to the school.

Who is David Parker?
David Parker moved from New Jersey to Lexington, MA. According to April 29, 2006 Boston Globe article "He acknowledged yesterday that he and his wife oppose same-sex unions, but they described themselves as Christians who do not advocate hatred."

It seems David has become quite cozy with Brian since this incident, but it really smells like a set up. I believe Brian and David knew each other before this incident. One of Brian's favorite tactics is to have someone else be the "frontman" so to speak, and make complaints and/or video/audio tape when schools are promoting diversity and/or GLBT issues.

For example Kim Cariani-Perakis,the parent in Newton that was ejected from Newton North High School with him because they were trying to tape ToBGLADay assemblies at the Newton North High school (again with the taping of youth without their permission or their parent/guardians...). It was perceived in the media as Kim having the issue with the school's ToBGLADay assemblies and Brian just happen to be there and according to the illustrious article 8 website "Mrs. Perakis had arrived about twenty minutes after Mr. Camenker, and they were sitting next to each other in the back row. (They had not personally met before.)". I highly doubt that they did not plan that and that they do know eachother. Really? How stupid does Brian think people are?

The there was the infamous youth only sex-ed workshop at GLSEN conference that was all over MassNews a few years back, in which audio tapes of the workshop with sliced in parts from a different adult workshop were sent to legislators, well it was Scott Whiteman, another parent, that did the audio taping in the workshop as Brian sat next to him.

Conclusion - Brian does not want to have the recording device in his hands because if it turns out to be against the law he can claim he did not do the actually taping. Nice way to treat your friends Brian- let them take the rap for your dirty work. Cowardly.... I say... Cowardly

Who is on top?

Back in 2001 John Haskins was the executive director of Parent's Rights Coalition, today he is the associate director, just behind Brian C.

John Haskins regularly contributes to the World Net Daily, American Spectator and from this gem he wrote "It's 1984 in Massachusetts And Big Brother Is Gay" in 2001 from Insight on the news...

"When Clossey enrolled her son in Newton North High School's reading program little did she know that the teacher had bragged in the Boston Globe (July 8, 2001) of quietly introducing homosexual and transsexual subjects into his classes. The teacher, Michael Kozuch, handed out The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky with instructions to write an essay on it. What literary "treats" did Kozuch consider mandatory for other people's children? Sex between a boy and a dog, man-boy sex, anal sex between boys, male masturbation and female masturbation with a hot dog. By chance Clossey opened the book her son brought home"

John Haskins reverts to stale left over stereotypes with his slight obsessionn of [hot] dogs. The book in question is about an 11th grader dealing with the suicide of his friend and many of the same stuff any teenager might go through being in high school.

Most of his other articles do not revert to this "gay = beastiality" thinking, but I think I know where his heart is at, right next to Rev Fred Phelps.

John's latest obsessionn is with Gov. Romney - aka mittens as I call him, because he is trying to convince his dear readers that mittens "gets away with funding homosexual brainwashing of schoolchildren while posing outside his state as a pro-family conservative"

I can only imagine what John has to say about Mormons...

Article 8/Parents right has not strayed too far into the "god hates gays" camp at least publically, but John Haskins is one of those...his article "It's 1984 in Massachusetts And Big Brother Is Gay" has been republished on many radical right christian sites and maybe that why Brian C. stepped into the executive director role to downplay the religious side of Parent's Rights Coalition.

As we all know our Govenor Mittens has nothing nice to say about Massachusetts. The minute he leaves this state he is bad mouthing Massachusetts and "our crazy liberal ways..."

As for funding- the Gov Commission does not have funds, the only thing a Gov Commission does is make suggestions and be a body a Governor can point to (or ignore as he does with the gay/lesbian commission) to show legitimacy on an issue.

He is a computer programmer with two children, living in Auberndale, MA.

As reported in MassResistanceWatch Blog - originally the Parents Rights Coalition was named the Interfaith Coalition of Massachusetts, but it appears it was short lived. Really, is Brian having name crisis or what? Because it appears he changes the name of his organization every year or so. Seems like a bait and switch to me. I thas got have cost him some money to keep buying all those domain names and now I can see why he does have non-profit status, because they changing the name.

On the Mass Family Institute Front
Rev. Kris Mineau is from North Reading, MA and contributed $700 to Ronald Crews who was running for congress in 2004, Crews is an ex-Georgia State Represenative that moved up to Massachusetts after losing his re-election bid in 1998, in which he blamed gay advocates on his loss (there are that many gays in Georgia? who knew!) He came up to Massachusetts to give the Rev. Kris a hand when he was hired to lead the Massachusetts Family Institute in 2000. In 2004, he left the institute to begin his unsuccessful run for Congress against Jim McGovern, since then he has dropped out of sight, letting Rev Kris run his mouth for the MFI.

I received an email question in regards to the financials of Article 8/Brian Camenker... at this point I cannot verify what kind of organization he has, private or non-profit. There is no listing for his "Parents' Educational Foundation" as a non-profit, but his site says you can make a tax deductible donation under that name (so is some one really make a tax-deductible donation? It would be very unfortunate if a donor got screwed by the IRS cause they thought they were wrting that off on their taxes and later find out none of it was true). Other "Donations" to article 8 are not tax deductible. Brian was the head of Newton Taxpayers Association back in 2003, but not any longer.

Mass Family Institute is a recognized 501c3 non-profit, listed under Education and Research. 2003-4 they brought in $713,173 of which they spent $130,000 on lobbying expenses. They say they do programs, but I could not find any "programs" listed on their site, just publications...

This is the only photo I have been able to find... because of the following quote from the Boston Phoenix I believe she is hiding behind the sign:

A comment posted yesterday by an avid reader said that it wouldn't be in the best interest of the health and well being of a puppy not to have Brian Camenker as his owner. I would have to agree, give that puppies need lots of attention and time and what with Brian's schedule of harassing LGBT youth, running to the court house with some new lawsuit, to the statehouse proposing hate legislation, or to trying stir up trouble in his ex-hometown of Newton (which he does not live there anymore, so he should have not been in Newton North High School, because he does not have kids in that school). Basically he would not have the time to devote to a puppy and be that giving and kind to another creature.

As always google came through... so maybe Mr Camenker lives in Waltham now... or is just cheap office space?

I heard a rumor that Brian was too much (over zealous maybe?) for the Mass Family institution's president Kristian M. Mineau or is it that maybe they broke up. I suspect though we will see them back together in July at the next Con Con.

MassNews isn't what it use to be... back in the day (about 4 years ago) they wrote their own slanted columns, okay I am giving too much credit... they use take info off other people's websites, namely those who they are attacking, and pull sentences and stats out of context and put their own spin on them. My favorite was when they quoted a statistics from an LGBT domestic violence report.. I think it was the number of calls taken in a year and said there was the proof that butch lesbians were luring teenage girls into the homosexual lifestyle... I am not sure what kind of logic they used to get to that... Unfortunately they are not has fun to read anymore... with the recycling of article 8 press releases and warmed over hatred for Judge Margaret Marshall.

Welcome to Hate Resistance, a response to the Mass Resistance/Article 8 Alliance/Parents Rights Coalition/Mass Family Institute/MassNews.

I started this blog after being a target on the MassResistance Blog. I got to thinking who are these guys? Could I be standing next to one one of them at some public event? I didn't think I could be the only one that didn't want to be near such hatred, so I have decided to post up what info I find on them and refute an inaccuracies about their info. The funny thing is a lot of their websites jump all over biased media coverage of issues of same-sex marriage and glbt rights, domestic violence, "activist" judges and feminists, yet their websites, online newspapers, and blogs appear pretty much one-sided about the issues they preach about.

The interesting thing is that many of their sites don't list who is involved with these groups. Is it really one group with a zealous for buying domain names? Maybe it is just two or three of them that hire actors when they need a crowd.

I decided I needed to find out who these people are... and answer the big questions... Do they like puppies?, What is their favorite color? What is their favorite food? What is up with all the hate?

I feel like it is only fair since they have spent so much time trying to uncover the truth about me and other "hardcore activists". It is kind of like when you where in school and your assigned a social studies project to learn about a new country... maybe even get a pen pal out of it...

What I have found out so far...

Mass Resistance is part of Article 8/Parents Rights Coalition an anti-LGBT organization that has been pushing for marriage to be between "one man and one woman", but has a long history of targeting GLBT youth.

Brian Camenker was one of the folks (the other is Scott Whiteman) that secretly audio taped a youth only workshop in 2000 about sex education at a GLSEN conference and spliced in adult content (to make it more suggestive than it was) and mailed the tapes to legislators. This in turn got safe schools funding cut and a person from the Mass Dept of Ed. fired.

This all got first covered in MassNews, an online newspaper with who's editor, J. Edward Pawlick, has a long history of anti-LGBT, anti-feminist, anti-woman and has had history of putting up photos and locations of confidential domestic violence shelters. Currently the site seemed obsessed with Judge Margaret Marshall, for being one of those "activist" judges... basically because she wrote the opinion about same-sex marriage opening the door to legal same-sex marriage here in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts Family Institute leader, Rev. Kristian M. Mineau, hooked with Camenker' group with the same-sex marriage push started to happen. They spend a lot of long days and nights at the statehouse together and frequently invite each other to speak at their events. For guys who go on an on about same-sex folks mingling they spend and awful lot of time together, I just saying... I have not seen much about too many woman folk involved let alone if these guys even have wives... let alone children...

Who's who of Massachusetts Anti-GLBT orgs

As the season of GLBT events kicks in to high gear there are a few faces you should watch out for in the crowd:

These folks target GLBT youth events particularly:

Brian Camenker
Known to show up at youth event, take photos and record youth without their permission. Head of Article 8/Parent Rights Coalition (does this guy even have kids?)

Rev. Kris Mineau, President of Mass. Family Institute- which actively works against equality marriage rights for LGBT people and claims that "cohabiting unions tend to weaken the institution of marriage and pose clear and present dangers for women and children. *Living together outside of marriage increases the risk of domestic violence for women, and the risk of physical and sexual abuse for children."

Which is completely untrue, if anything a relationship where domestic violence is occurring (one person using power and control, over another, in straight couples most often it is the man perpetrating domestic violence over his female partner) can escalate isolation and emotional abuse, because some batters see the bonds of marriage to as a justification to not allow their partner to have contact with friends or family or demand that their needs get met at the expense of their partner.

What their tactics have inspired:
Youth involved with gay/straight alliances getting hate email and phone calls
harassment and threats to GLBT Youth Organizations and GLBT community organizers
